Welcome to 2008. 2004. 1984. 1957.
Those years, respectively, are the last time the Detroit Red Wings, Pistons, Tigers and Lions have won a league championship.
For Red Wings and Pistons fans, the drought, comparatively, hasn’t been too severe. But for Tigers and Lions fans, the drought is Sahara-level. It’s been so long since the Lions won a league championship that their last one predates the Super Bowl. Somebody born in 1957 would be about 68 years old when the Lions won that NFL championship.
But, to put the success (and lack thereof) of Detroit’s four major professional sports teams into perspective, here’s a look back at the state of the country the last time each team reached the mountaintop.
